Sepia Sat. for April 12, a little late.

This is one of my Dads twin sisters. The next photo is my Grandmother (dads mom) and the husband of this twin sister. Grandmother probably always dressed like this for the beach.

My mom always talked about going to the Sea Side. It was something, living in Yorkshire, that she would have loved. She and my Dad are on the right. They met thanks to the war. She never said she would go swimming or wading, it was always be called paddling.

  1. Fortunately Sepia Saturday has no fine for a late post, and these snaps are a terrific match for our theme. I think for many people of older generations, the thrill of the seaside was really just about paddling, wading into the surf, and feeling the grit of sand between your toes. Swimming was not a recreation then as it is now, or even a common skill. Same thing for boating and other water sports. Fishing was something you did from a pier.

  2. Everyone in your photos looks like they're having a great time. Nice match to the prompt and you're not late, you're just time challenged. :)
